Sierra Sands Unified School District and the Ridgecrest Police Department are working together to address a growing safety concern in our community. Both agencies have seen an increase in accidents involving electric bikes and electric scooters, and nationally, there have been several serious injuries and fatalities connected to these types of incidents.
To help prevent similar tragedies here in Ridgecrest, SSUSD and RPD are launching a joint effort to provide families and students with accurate information and practical safety guidance. The first step in this partnership is the release of the flyer below, which outlines key safety tips and highlights the risks associated with E‑Bikes and E‑Scooters. We encourage you to review this information with your child and talk with them about safe and responsible riding.
When school resumes in August, the District and RPD will also share an informational video that further explains the dangers associated with E‑Bikes and E‑Scooters and provides reminders about traffic safety near school campuses. Our shared goal is to keep students safe as they travel to and from school and throughout the community.
Thank you for your support and for partnering with us in this important effort to protect our youth.
