Dress Code

Dress Code
Students must dress appropriately for educational activities so as not to endanger their health, safety or welfare as noted in the Gateway Parent and Student Handbook Folder.
The Handbook states that spaghetti straps and backless shirts/dresses are not permitted.  Shirt straps must be AT LEAST 1-1/2" wide. Clothing that reveals undergarments will not be allowed on campus.  Pants must fit at the hips so they will stay on without a belt.  Skirts and shorts must be worn at an appropriate length, mid-thigh for sitting as well as standing.  The guideline is that the shorts/skirt must reach the end of the fingertips when the arms hang straight down at the child's side.  Parents will be required to bring a change of clothing for students that do not comply with the standard.
Backless and open-toed shoes are not permitted. Shoes with laces must be laced and tied.
Gateway School does not permit caps and hats to be worn inside buildings.  They may be worn properly on the playground (not sideways or backwards).
No gang attire such as bandanas or colors worn by gangs is allowed.  Large showy jewelry is not permitted, such as large earrings, grills or large necklaces.
